Body positivity is just being confident about your body image regardless of how the society views as an ideal body. No one has an ideal body posture; well, they exist only in movies or reel life. You scroll through people’s stories. You notice people having an ideal body posture and you feel that maybe you’ve had a perfect body with no scars, cellulite, fat too. No, everyone has their insecurities with bodies, and it’s normal. We live in such a judgmental society where people judge for being skinny or chubby or simply being you. People really criticize anything and everything. But the main point is that you should be confident about your body, no matter what people say. No matter how much of a good thing you’ve done, there will always be one person to criticize.
So let’s talk about why is body positivity important:1. To challenge the stereotypes on views of ideal body
2. To be the voice of people dealing with insecurities
3. To address the fact that you are imperfectly perfect
4. To Learn to appreciate your flaws as no one’s perfect
5. To build up confidence on your body
6. To become strong enough to handle criticisms
Body positivity has been a buzzword these days. And why not? Accepting your flaws is a great achievement. But let’s not take body positivity as a trend but it’s something that is extremely needed. You should not love your body because everyone else does the same, but you should love it because YOU want to love it. Accepting your insecurities takes time, but accept the fact you are beautiful the way you are. Hiding your flaws will definitely make you look perfect, but you aren’t the same in real is what you should remember.
Remember that your body is an INSTRUMENT, not an ORNAMENT. In this world, makeups, surgery has been said to empower women, but I don’t think so. You don’t become powerful by your physical appearance, but by whom you are and what you do. Don’t confuse yourself by relating empowerment with feeling beautiful. Body positivity is all about self-love. You are happy by being yourself is what matters. Don’t let people dictate how you live, self-love always comes first.
You casually call someone fat, but do you even realize how much it impacts every aspect of their life? This is a reason why people feel like they aren’t enough. If you are someone who criticizes people on their physical appearance, you should probably shut up now. This isn’t something to joke on.
To all the people dealing with body criticisms, don’t listen to others and don’t let them control your mind. Don’t be hard on yourselves. Every people is completely different than one another and that difference is what makes you beautiful; why? BECAUSE YOU ARE DIFFERENT THAN EVERYONE. So be yourself, which makes you look beautiful. Weight gain is normal, weight loose is normal, scars are normal, cellulite are normal, it’s just how you look at it. If you are positive about your body, life is beautiful to you.
And always remember: you are wonderful and worthy and capable, no matter how you feel about your body on a certain day.
