Congratulation
we have survived the half way 2020. Well, 2020 was a quite a bad year. So far
we have had global pandemic, wars all over the world and tons of natural
disasters. In this Context let’s have a brief outlook in 2020 a hard year.
2. Ukraninan jetliner crash: Ukrainian
jetliner crashes in Iran on January 8th. Iran admitted it unintentionally shot
down an Ukrainian passenger and accusing it an individual error. Of all, 176
people were killed on the board. Iran denied being accountable for the
incident. But after Western intelligence officials said evidence pointed to
Iranian involvement, the country admitted fault, saying it had mistaken the
plane for a cruise missile.
3. Phillippines- Taal Volcano eruption: Alert level 4 volcano erupted in Philippines on January 12th. It was estimated that the combined population living within 14 km of the zone befall 460,000 people. On 13th January about 24,500 people took shelter in 75 evacuation centers. According to some source, many people refused to follow the evacuation center and decided to return back home. Volcano eruption has caused a deep impact on economy, health, casualty and air traffic.
4. Locusts Swarm in East Africa: East Africa
experienced a worst swarm of locusts in many decades. The locust invasion that
swept over farms in Kenya from December 2019 has left farmers not only counting
crop losses, but battling emerging environmentally and health problems. The
swarms are the worst witnessed in Kenya for 70 years. In February 2020, local
media reported that a swarm covering 2,400 square km was recorded in northern
Kenya and will are the most important on record during this country.
5. Earthquake in Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico is an active region where earthquakes often occur. But after 10 years, this country experienced destructive quake shocks of 6.4 magnitude. Puerto Rico experienced almost 2,000 shakes in late December with the powerful quake of 6.4 magnitudes that befell in January 7 centered the southwestern coast. It had been the foremost massive earthquake to hit Puerto Rico in an exceedingly century. It demolished nearly 600 buildings and caused $110 million damage.
6. California
Helicopter Crash: On Sunday, January 26, 2020, a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter
crashed in Calabasas, California, around 30 miles northwest of downtown Los
Angeles while on the way from John Wayne Airport to Camarillo Airport. Nine
people were on board, including retired professional basketball player Kobe
Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, baseball coach John Altobelli, five
other passengers, and also the pilot. It is unclear what caused the crash,
because the helicopter was not carrying a flight data recorder due to that not
being compulsory for aircraft of this type in line.
7. Australian
bushfire: Australia faced a devastating bushfire season in late 2019 and it got
worse in February 2020 before rain. Dozens of fires erupted in New South Wales,
Australia, prompting the government to declare emergency in November 2019. As
of 9 March 2020, the fires burnt an estimated 18.6 million hectares, destroyed
over 5,900 building and killed a minimum of 34 people.
8. Pakistan
Airliner Crash: A plane crash that suppressed 97 people on May 22nd was the
result of human error by the pilot according to the initial report. The
captains got distracted while talking about Corona Virus and also the plane
came down in the Karachi houses. The pilot did not deploy the undercarriage
correctly, which led to the aircraft scraping the runway before starting off
again.
9. George
Floyd Death: On 25th of May, George floyd was killed in Minnesota while being
arrested for using counterfeit bill. J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane were
two of the four police officers involved in George Floyd's deadly arrest on May
25. After Floyd’s death, people protested in USA. At some places protests
turned violent, where riots occurred. The area where Floyd was executed became
memorial throughout May 26, with many placards paying tribute to him and
referencing the Black Lives Matter movement. As the day progressed, more people
came to demonstrate against Floyd's death. Hundreds of people then marched to
the 3rd Precinct of the Minneapolis Police. Participants used slogans with
phrases like "Justice for George", "I can't breathe”, and
"Black Lives Matter."
10. Beirut
Explosion: On 4 August 2020, a n oversized amount of ammonium nitrate stored at
the port of the city of Beirut, Lebanon, exploded causing aa minimum of 200
deaths, three reported missing, 6,500 injuries, US$10–15 billion in property
damage, and leaving an estimated 300,000 people homeless. People there earlier
had observed a massive fire at the port.
