Confused about what to study after highschool? Read this!

After a long time, Hello readers.

I am back with a blog that is about choosing a right career. I am not a professional career counselor but I think I can definitely present my point of view.

This stage can be one of the toughest decisions in one’s life. But if you are conscious about your likes and dislikes I think it’s gonna be quite easy. Graduating highschool is a new journey towards independence and actually learning from life. Bachelors are more than just studying. Choosing a right stream for you is more challenging if you don’t have any goals.

That is why parents often remind us to know our goal, our dreams during school life. But many students are still confused about right career option for them. It is normal because with the emerge of many new subjects, you get confused. No worries if you are frustrated about career, I will be giving some important tips for your help. But I still suggest students to contact a career counselor if you are worried about career.

To school students, first thing is you need to choose a right stream for you in highschool. I have seen people who are forced to join science streams. Most of the science students regret studying science and they drop to management. I mean you will definitely know your capacity. You weren’t interested in science subject in school, why did you took science stream then?

DON’T GET INFLUENCED!!!!!

It is your life and you are the one who take decisions. Your parents and closed ones can only give you Advises, but not force you. Think well before getting influenced into someone’s words. If you wore well at accountancy in school, I prefer you to management. This advice is for students choosing stream in highschool. So your highschool stream can be helpful for you to choose bachelor study.

Another thing is suppose you wanted to become an entrepreneur when you wore in highschool. And now you’ve graduated highschool but you wanted to become a cricketer. This happens to most of the students and it’s normal. During highschool, you wore not quite mature to take decisions. Now you’re getting matured and you know what actually is good for you. Okay so getting back to the topic, now you wanted to become a cricketer, I suggest you to study Bachelor’s in sports management. If you want to become a fashion designer, you should study bachelor in fashion design.

CAREER AND PASSION

The new mantra that students apply is a balance between career and passion. For example you love cricket but your aim is to become an Architect. For this, you should study Bachelor’s in architecture and at the same time you should also take trainings for cricket. You’re getting me right? But this mantra is a little difficult because you need to manage time. If you think you cannot manage time, go follow your passion and study bachelor’s in sport management. If you have to choose between career and passion, you should definitely follow PASSION. It is because that is something you love to do and you have interest in.

RESEARCH AND JUST RESEARCH

After getting graduated from high school, you get quite a lot of time to think and search. Use the social media properly and get to know different colleges, universities, and their study types. You can also visit different colleges and take information. Our generation is quite blessed because we got the facility of best colleges and internet. So utilize the internet wisely and get information of Bachelor’s. There are also a lot of seminars that you must attend after graduation during holidays.

KNOWLEDGE

Another thing is most of the Science students join Management courses in Bachelor’s. Why? Because you think it would be easy? NONO you’re absolutely wrong. If you moved your thought to becoming a businessman, then that’s good, you should study Management courses. But what I recommend is, if you’re from a science faculty, then you probably study science related courses. Why?

o   Because it gets easier to study. For example I was a management student in high school. Now I study a Business course in Bachelor’s. So my high school knowledge is a great help to my bachelor’s.

o   You don’t want to waste your education right? When you shift from high school to undergraduate, if you choose a total different course than your high school knowledge; you wasted the whole 2 years studying a different thing.

WHAT ARE YOUR SKILLS?

Are you good at writing, speaking, acting or any other thing? Your skills can also become a great help to find a right career. If you’re good at writing, you have scope of becoming a blogger, content writer, script writer, poet, and novelist. So you can search the right career accordingly.

Are you still confused?

If you’re totally blank about your career, then first thing you should do is take a pen and paper. Write down the list of your hobbies or skills. Think what you’re good at. It could be gaming, freelancing, footballer, painter or anything. Done?

Okay so now you’re done listing the hobbies. Think about which hobbies you prefer more or you think you’re good at. Cut those hobbies which you think you’ll loose interest soon. Now you have some remaining hobbies. The important part begins now. Research on all your hobbies and their scope. Find out everything about what you need to study to fulfil these hobbies. Find answer to the following questions:

o   Is the study available in your country?

o   If you study the course, what are the job prospects after graduation?

For example, your hobby is freelancing. Firstly know more about freelancing. If you only know that freelancing is working flexible and earning on timely basis, then no, you have one 1% of freelancing knowledge.

After you’re done with research, now search the courses you should study to become a freelancer. You will find a number of courses options, out of which you should again choose the best one. How you choose the best one? Again RESEARCH. Get knowledge about the course you decided to study from any possible source.

Lastly, I would just say take your own decisions and research as much as you can. Ask professionals for help. And never hesitate to ask anything. I wish you guys all the best in choosing right career. I hope this article was of some help too. Thank you for your interest. If my blog helped you, please do comment and let me know.
