This year was quite
harsh. Millions lost their lives, and life got hectic to many. As
we’re at the end of this year, let’s take a quick look in 2020, a hard
year. Sometime ago I had published a blog on “10 disasters that hit
2020.” If you haven’t read it, please go refer
to it so that we
could remember people who lost their lives in
these disasters. May
the god rest the souls of
the departed in peace.
After a very lengthy time, Hello viewers! Welcome to Aloyana blogs. Today I have came up with a very interesting yet an important topic named “The Pandemic year.” I will be bringing two blogs on this topic. First is “Why was 2020 hard” and the second is “let’s be thankful for 2020.”
Today we’re not going to talk about the disasters of 2020, but I’ll be focusing on how the “Pandemic Year” caused change in people’s lives. Why was 2020 difficult for everyone? Many stressful events happened this year, but the root cause of 2020 being tough is Corona pandemic. Let’s discuss, furthermore.
Mental health
This word I expect we overheard quite a lot during the pandemic. This pandemic not only affected mind but humans' brain functioning. According to a research, people who gone through COVID-19, experienced anxiety, depression and insomnia. Only the fear of corona virus caused health issues in many persons. Because lifestyle changed, people lost their jobs and finance got disbalanced.
A father is concerned about the finance balance in the family. A granny keeps praying to make her family healthy, A mother keeps a funny environment to calm everyone but she is worried inside and a son/daughter wants to help their family in this critical situation but don’t know how?
I guess this was the condition of almost every family during the pandemic. You see? Every aged people suffered through mental health issues somehow. According to a source, Corona has long-lasting impact on mental health more than physical health. To many individuals, their life won’t be normal as before.
Poverty
Corona virus caused a shock in economic growth. Every country was affected by poverty; India is being the number one. India had the largest number of vulnerable people but recently the rise of the pandemic caused the fall in economic growth in India. The risk of the economic downturn pushed families to poverty line. Increase in poverty left a lasting scar in people. This impact of corona virus can set back a country’s development for years. According to UNICEF, “additional 150 million children are pushed into poverty. This is not good and what is the root cause? Again CORONA VIRUS.
Education
With the fear of corona virus, schools shut down. This decision caused students worried. Classes and semesters had been delayed, and schools had switched to online platforms which aren’t that effective. Online teaching is a new platform for the student so takes time for them to get used to it. Though staffs and students know much about technology already but switching into online platforms overnight is hard. Though online education is helping currently because we are becoming used to it now. But definitely discussion based classrooms were different. We, students could concentrate. But online platforms causes network disturbance and it is also relatively difficult to concentrate through online tools, I think. What about village students? They had to already struggle during classroom education, how will they learn through online platforms? They even do not receive the access of internet. Without the internet access, they have to forcefully miss out their education.
Apart of these 3, Covid pandemic has also caused
Travel restrictions
Severe psychological crisis
Massive debts
Panic attacks
Stress disorder and many more.
But what is important is staying positive and being grateful because you coped the challenging year. There is hope with the start of New Year 2021. Apart of these stressful activities happened to us in 2020, there are also many reasons to be thankful for in 2020.
